Have you ever wanted to share everything from calendars
to individual files across Windows, Linux and Mac OS X? This
is exactly what XC connect can do for you. XC connect is
an alternative to a Microsoft Exchange Server. It enables
you to share calendars, contacts, and tasks between these
platforms using Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Entourage, iCAL
and address book for OS X, Novell Evolution, and more. Every
time you login to the network your XC Connect connector client
will automatically synchronize your calendars, contacts and
tasks with the information from the server. XC Connect gives
you the freedom to choose who has privileges to add, modify
or delete your personal calendar events, tasks or contacts.
As a manager you can set daily schedules for each employee
or you can set a group calendar that everyone shares. XC
Connect is comprised of two vital components:
- The first component is the XC server. The
server should be installed on a networked computer accessible
by all users who access XC Connect. The server manages
all of the users, the different permissions that are set
by each user and any files or data needed by multiple users.
It can be configured to use XC Connect, XC Vault or both.
- The second vital component is the XC Connect
connector. This application is installed on
each computer using XC Connect. The connector is responsible
for transferring calendars, contacts, data and tasks
among the supported programs between the various platforms
and the XC Server. As long as your computer has access
to the network the XC connector will automatically synchronize
the information between the server and the computers.
You can also manually synchronize them.
XC Connect allows business to share calendars, contacts
and tasks without the expensive overhead of having a Microsoft
server, high licensing fees or complex administration. The
web interface makes it very easy to configure users. If you
share vital information within your company then XC Connect
is just what you need. |
