Broadband

In today's fast paced environment being reliably connected at a fast speed is vital to the success of your company.  Trying to conduct business over a dial-up connection is a thing of the past.  The following are a few key reasons why broadband is the way of the future: faster page loading; quicker file downloading and emailing; always being connected, so you won’t experience disconnections or waste any time re-connecting; no longer missing important phone calls because your line is tied up; having the opportunity to remove any additional phone lines formerly dedicated for internet; and being able to work from home through a vpn connection.

Broadband is a type of high bandwidth data transmission in which a single medium can carry several channels simultaneously. Broadband excels at sending and receiving voice, data, and video concurrently. It allows multiple computers to be connected to the internet at the same time. "Broadband" and "High-Speed" are also general terms used to describe any of the different high speed Internet connection technologies, such as PRI, T-1, Cable, and DSL.

Now that you have decided that a broadband connection is the right decision, which type would be best for your company?

  • Cable internet - This type of service connects one or more computers to the Internet through a cable TV connection. The speed of cable modem service can range from 1.5Mbps – 3.0Mbps or higher. The actual speed will vary depending on how many people are using the service at the same time. With cable internet you can eliminate phone lines entirely.
  • DSL - DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line and is a way to connect to the internet using an existing telephone line. The average speeds range from 1.5Mbps – 3.0Mbps or higher. The actual speed may vary depending on your physical distance from the provider. In many cases, DSL can use your existing phone wiring and is a great idea if you have anywhere from 1 - 25 people using the internet at the same time.
  • T-1 - is a high capacity, high bandwidth solution that offers a data transmission speed of 1.544Mbps. A T1 is composed of 24 different channels that can simultaneously carry voice and data. Each channel is dedicated, so each channel's proper speed is guaranteed.
  • PRI - stands for primary rate interface and is a digital high bandwidth solution that offers the transmission of voice and data through support channels. A PRI has speeds of 1.544Mbps. The 24 individual channels can support a transmission rate of 64Kbps, but the channels can be bound together to achieve higher transmission rates.

Along with offering these high-speed Internet choices, we also offer some great services to help protect you during your Internet browsing experience.

  • Adult content filtering - protects your family or business from objectionable internet content such as: Anarchy, Hate Groups, Pornography, and R-rated websites. We even have the ability to custom block other sites that you find offensive.
  • Spam/virus filtering - prevents harmful virus-infected or spam emails from reaching your inbox. We have partnered with Postini to offer this highly customizable service. Our filtering service gives you the option of allowing or denying specific email addresses access to your inbox, as well as general category protection.
